A festive event marking June 1 – International Children’s Day was held in Gothenburg, Sweden, gathering around 60 members of the Azerbaijani diaspora from various Swedish cities.
Organized by the Azerbaijan Karabakh Center in Gothenburg with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the event began with the playing of Azerbaijan’s National Anthem. Head of the Azerbaijan Karabakh Freedom Center and the Coordination Council of Scandinavian Azerbaijanis, Ulviyya Najafova, opened the event by speaking about the history and significance of the day.
The celebration featured vibrant performances by Azerbaijani children living in Sweden, including poetry recitals, songs, national music on the piano, football demonstrations, and dances.
Special guest Zahra Shukurova, a 13-year-old writer from Lund, presented her Swedish-language book “Friend of Peace” and shared its message with the audience.
At the close of the event, children received certificates and gifts, had their faces painted with colorful designs, and enjoyed interactive games organized by the center.
