Azerbaijani chess players are set to showcase their skills at the FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championships 2025 to be held in Doha, Qatar.
A total of 14 chess players, including Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Teymur Rajabov, Eltaj Safarli, Rauf Mammadov, Nijat Abasov, Mahammad Muradli and Aydin Suleymanli, and female players Gunay Mammadzade, Gulnar Mammadova, Khanim Balajayeva, Govhar Beydullayeva, Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Zeynab and Turkan Mammadyarovas, will represent the country in the competition.
The event, to take place from December 25 to 30, will bring together a field featuring multiple world champions, most of the sport’s highest-rated competitors, and rising stars.
The championships has a prize fund of over €1,000,000 spread across both the Open and the Women’s competitions.
