The Zagreb Open 2026 continues with Azerbaijan represented in the competition by the national women's wrestling team.
On the fourth day of the tournament, three members of the squad took to the mat.
Nargiz Samadova (53 kg) lost to Poland’s Roksana Marta Zasina (0:10) in the qualification round and was defeated by Japan’s Umi Imai (1:13) in the repechage match.
Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) exited the competition early after losing her opening bout to Brazil’s Giullia Penalber (4:14). Zahra Karimzada (72 kg) lost to Türkiye’s Buse Tosun (0:2) in the quarterfinals, but in the bronze medal match, she defeated Japan’s Mahiro Yoshitake with a score of 4:1 to secure the podium finish.
