ADB meeting discusses cooperation on SME development

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met on Tuesday with Yingming Yang, Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for South, Central, and West Asia.

The meeting emphasized the importance Azerbaijan attaches to developing relations with ADB, one of the world’s prominent international financial institutions.

It was noted that the Bank supports Azerbaijan through various project-based initiatives. The minister provided information on the country’s favorable business climate, ongoing economic projects, and reintegration efforts in the liberated territories, and highlighted opportunities for further cooperation with ADB. The sides also reviewed collaboration under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program and along the Middle Corridor.

Discussions focused on enhancing access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), industrial development plans, and the ADB’s upcoming Country Partnership Strategy for Azerbaijan covering the period of 2025–2029.
