With natural gas exports to 14 countries, Azerbaijan is set to become a significant global and regional supplier, contributing substantially to energy security, Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, told journalists during the ceremony marking the launch of Azerbaijani natural gas supplies to Syria via Türkiye.
According to the minister, considering the duration of the work, the project’s implementation would not have been possible without international collaboration and Azerbaijan's current prestige.
The minister underlined that despite the complexity of the logistics, commercial conditions, and gas volumes, the successful foundation for the work lies in Azerbaijan's achievements in the energy sector.
“From a purely commercial point of view, Azerbaijan has clearly demonstrated its ability to competitively supply not only the western direction, but also the southern and eastern directions with its own energy by implementing this supply. We are confident that activities in this direction will continue in the medium and long term," the minister added.
The minister also expressed his appreciation to the Turkish colleagues and brothers for the implementation of this contract, noting that they have created favorable conditions for the transit of this gas.
“We plan to expand SOCAR’s presence in this vast geography in the future, with the goal to fully fulfill the obligations we have undertaken, serve the reputation of the country, and ensure commercial viability,” the minister added.
