Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov holds phone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, held a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Sunday.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Ishaq Dar briefed the Russian Foreign Minister on recent regional developments. He strongly rejected India's baseless allegations and inflammatory rhetoric against Pakistan, and condemned India’s unilateral and unlawful decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), describing it as a violation of international obligations.

Foreign Minister Lavrov expressed concern over the developments and stressed the importance of diplomacy in resolving issues. He emphasized the need for both sides to exercise restraint and avoid escalation.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Deputy Prime Minister Dar underscored that Pakistan would firmly safeguard its sovereignty and national interests. He also reiterated Pakistan’s offer for an international, transparent, and independent investigation.

The two ministers also reviewed the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Russia relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across all sectors.
