On the sidelines of the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, the Azerbaijani delegation led by Anar Aliyev, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population, held a series of bilateral meetings.
Minister Aliyev met with Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), highlighting the strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and the ILO. He noted the significance of Houngbo’s visit to Baku in April for further developing cooperation. Aliyev also emphasized that Azerbaijan has ratified 59 ILO conventions to date.
The discussions included the importance of close collaboration between the Labor Center of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Baku and the ILO, as well as ongoing efforts to ensure decent living conditions, employment, and economic development in the liberated territories.
Director-General Houngbo praised Azerbaijan’s active cooperation with the ILO and described his recent visit as highly productive.
The Azerbaijani delegation also met with Beate Andrees, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, to discuss future cooperation prospects.
Additionally, Minister Aliyev held talks with Vedat Işıkhan, Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security. Both sides emphasized that, through the joint efforts of Azerbaijan’s and Türkiye’s heads of state, their historically close friendship and brotherhood have grown stronger, reaching the level of a strategic alliance.
