Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport (MDDT) Elmin Mammadov met with Mikhail Pushkin, Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The meeting focused on the steps Azerbaijan has taken toward implementing the 2006 Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), the opportunities this process will create for the country, and the expected outcomes.

The sides exchanged views on existing challenges related to the ratification and effective implementation of the Convention, including the application of the international standards required for this process. The ILO expressed its readiness to provide technical and institutional support to Azerbaijan in this regard.

The meeting also explored prospects for cooperation in the digitalization of maritime transport, the strengthening of human capital in the sector, and the application of advanced international practices.
