Awaza hosts Azerbaijan National Day as part of third UN conference

On August 6, “Azerbaijan National Day” was celebrated as part of the ongoing Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Awaza.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the event aimed to showcase Azerbaijan’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage to an international audience.

The exhibition titled “Pearls of Azerbaijan’s National Heritage” attracted great interest from visitors. It featured examples of Azerbaijan’s carpet-weaving traditions and regional carpet schools, national clothing, kelaghayi (traditional women’s headscarves), shabaka (stained glass art), and embroidery masterpieces.

Guests also took part in masterclasses on carpet weaving, stained glass work, kelaghayi decoration, and jewelry making. The venue hosted live music performances and traditional Azerbaijani dances throughout the day.

The culinary corner, offering samples of national cuisine, also drew significant interest.

The event culminated in a spectacular concert program in the evening, featuring performances by People’s Artists Alim Gasimov and Gulyanag Mammadova, Honored Artists Fargana Gasimova, Ramil Gasimov, Nargiz Karimova, Sahib Pashazade, as well as Ashig Samira and Ashig Ali, the Natig Rhythm Group, and the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble.

The exhibition “Pearls of Azerbaijan’s National Heritage” will remain open until August 8.
