Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora, met with Sevinc Kerimova, a cultural figure living in California, USA.
Muradov highly praised the commitment of Azerbaijanis living abroad to the ideals of Azerbaijanism, national values, and their efforts in promoting the ancient culture of the Azerbaijani people. He noted the active role of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the U.S. and in expanding cultural ties between the two countries. He emphasized that Azerbaijani communities and compatriots abroad are always surrounded by the special attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva.
Sevinc Kerimova was awarded the Republic of Azerbaijan’s “For Service in Diaspora Activities” Medal. She expressed her gratitude to the Azerbaijani state for the recognition of her work. Kerimova stated that she will continue her efforts to promote Azerbaijan and its culture in the U.S., foster the national spirit among young Azerbaijanis, and contribute to the more effective organization of diaspora activities.
Sevinc Kerimova, a prominent figure in Azerbaijani culture, worked as a director and producer of television programs and large-scale events in Azerbaijan during the 1980s and 1990s. She is the founder of the “Karvan” group. Continuing her career in the U.S., Kerimova worked as a producer at “Golden Arts Entertainment Production.” With the support of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora, she organized international projects such as “Baku Autumn – 35 Years Later” and “Together.”
Together with her husband, composer Mikayil Vakilov, Kerimova has supported the development of young Azerbaijani musicians and their access to major stages. Their children, Rustam Vakilov, is the first Azerbaijani director to produce films in Hollywood, and Nigar Vakilova is a photographer in the fashion industry.
