Teymur Musayev, Azerbaijan`s Minister of Health, met with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
During the meeting, Minister Teymur Musayev touched upon Azerbaijan`s fruitful cooperation with various UN-specialized agencies, including the UNESCAP. Noting that Azerbaijan became a member of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in 1992, the minister emphasized that during this period, high-level bilateral relations have been established with most UNESCAP member states.
Describing UNESCAP as a vital platform for cooperation, particularly in the areas of transport, digitalization, energy, and other domains, the Health Minister expressed his confidence that bilateral relations would continue to further develop.
The UNESCAP Executive Secretary emphasized that the hosting of the Summit of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia – SPECA, celebrating its 25th anniversary, in Azerbaijan in November 2023, marked a significant milestone.
Expressing her eagerness to establish fruitful cooperation with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Health, Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana underlined that UNESCAP will contribute to the development of digital health and healthcare areas in the organizations` member states.
The meeting also addressed other issues of mutual interest.
