The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Indonesia hosted an official reception in Jakarta to mark Azerbaijan’s Independence Day.
The event was attended by Hidayat Nur Wahid, Deputy Chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia, other state and government officials, representatives of socio-political, business, scientific, and cultural circles, heads of diplomatic missions in Jakarta, reps of international organizations, as well as Azerbaijani diaspora activists.
First, the participants viewed a photo exhibition highlighting the life of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and Karabakh.
Then, the national anthems of both countries were performed.
The event also featured the screening of several videos highlighting the history of Azerbaijan's independence, which began on May 28, 1918, and the country’s modern development, as well as its rich tourism potential.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ramil Rzayev noted that the values of democratic governance, gender equality, and sovereignty, which were established by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the first secular democratic republic in the Muslim world, during its short existence, continue to shape the country’s national identity today.
“Thanks to President Ilham Aliyev's successful continuation of the political course established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan's rapid development has been ensured, and the country's international authority has further increased. Azerbaijan currently acts as a reliable and proactive partner in regional and global issues,” the ambassador added.
The diplomat also provided insight into the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity thanks to the glorious Victory achieved in the Patriotic War, as well as the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories.
Prahoro Yulijanto Nurtjahyo, Head of the Department of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on behalf of the Government of Indonesia.
