“The dialogue among civilizations promotes mutual understanding and cooperation between different cultures and religions,” said Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei during a briefing marking the first-ever International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations. “It is a United Nations initiative that enables people to recognize and respect cultural differences, thereby fostering global peace and cooperation.”

She noted that Azerbaijan, along with 83 other countries, has signed a document supporting this process. “The dialogue among civilizations is aimed at promoting cooperation between diverse cultures and religions.”

“In April this year, President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev signed the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China,” the ambassador highlighted.

Ambassador Lu Mei emphasized that the declaration confirms Azerbaijan’s strong support for China’s Global Civilization Initiative. Azerbaijan highly appreciates the UN resolution**, initiated by China,** to proclaim the International Day of Dialogue among Civilizations and pledges to jointly promote respect for cultural diversity, cooperation, and exchange.

China, in return, supports Azerbaijan’s “Baku Process” and its global forums, which serve as important platforms for intercultural dialogue.

“This mutual support demonstrates both countries’ commitment to strengthening global civilizational exchange. Their joint efforts ensure that intercultural exchange overcomes all barriers, mutual enrichment prevails over conflicts, and coexistence triumphs over any notion of dominance,” Ambassador Lu said.
