“We categorically reject the baseless and provocative claims voiced by Mehdi Sobhani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia, regarding the alleged use of Azerbaijan’s territory against Iran, particularly the claim of Israeli drones entering Iran from Azerbaijan,” said Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as he commented on the ambassador's unfounded statements.

“These claims undermine the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, which are based on mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs.

In light of the well-articulated position expressed by the President of Azerbaijan during his recent phone call with the President of Iran, as well as by the Minister of Foreign Affairs during his phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, we consider the statements made by the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia an open provocation.

The Republic of Azerbaijan categorically refutes allegations that its airspace or territory has been used by any state to conduct military operations against the neighboring Islamic Republic of Iran or any other country. Such claims are baseless and lack credible evidence.

We expect Iran to prevent such actions, which are contrary to the spirit of our bilateral relations, and to take appropriate measures regarding the statements made by this ambassador, who consistently demonstrates a pro-Armenian position instead of properly representing his country,” Hajizada emphasized.
