Sweden’s leading Aftonbladet newspaper has published an article by Zaur Ahmadov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark, highlighting the breakthrough in peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The Azerbaijani diplomat emphasized that the signing of the Joint Declaration by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington had seen the establishment of a new peaceful settlement framework, thus putting an end to the functioning of the OSCE Minsk Group.
According to him, several key outcomes of the meeting included initialing of the Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as unblocking of all transport and communication lines between the two countries.
Ambassador Ahmadov drew particular attention to the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), a major element of the Middle Corridor initiative, and a safe land corridor, connecting the Azerbaijan’s mainland with the Nakhchivan.
He described the route as of great significance not only for the South Caucasus region, but also Europe, including Sweden and other Scandinavian countries as a reliable and dynamic trade route, also boosting stability in the region, which is key for the global supply chains.
Ahmadov expressed his confidence that following the Washington breakthrough, the South Caucasus will transform from the tension zone into a bridge between continents.
