Romania’s Foreign Minister condemns drone attack on Nakhchivan

Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana-Silvia Țoiu held a phone conversation with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov.

During the call, the sides discussed the current security situation in the region, particularly the risks stemming from rising tensions in the Middle East. Minister Țoiu was briefed on the drone attack carried out from Iranian territory against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure and injuries to civilians.

The Romanian minister condemned the attack and expressed concern, noting that such actions pose a serious threat to regional stability and security.

The officials also exchanged views on the agenda of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania, including cooperation in energy security, transport and connectivity projects, as well as other bilateral and multilateral areas of mutual interest.
