Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari attended the 35th National Day of the Russian Federation in Islamabad. The National Day function was attended by high-level Pakistani officials, diplomats, and individuals representing various walks of life.
While addressing the participants, President Zardari said that Pakistan and Russia have enormous potential to expand their bilateral partnership in trade, investment, technology, and people-to-people exchanges. He noted that Pakistan regards Russia as an important global power and a key player in ensuring regional peace and stability, particularly in the Eurasian region.
On this occasion, he congratulated Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, Ambassador Albert Khorev, and the people of Russia. He said that Pakistan joins Russia in celebrating this National Day, reflecting the solidarity and friendship between the two nations.
President Zardari noted that bilateral relations have improved over the years, based on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared interests in various fields. He added that recent high-level interactions between the two countries have laid the foundation for deeper engagement and understanding. Pakistan and Russia also continue to cooperate closely on regional and international platforms, he emphasized.
The President expressed confidence that the bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Russia would continue to grow stronger.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Albert Khorev emphasized that Russia remains a sovereign, powerful, and resilient nation, driven by the unwavering support of its people. Reflecting on the words of President Vladimir Putin, the Ambassador said that Russia has historically played a unifying role in the region, stretching “from the Baltics to the Caucasus.”
Earlier, President Zardari was briefed about Russia’s traditional arts and crafts as part of the National Day celebrations organized by the Russian Embassy.
