An event entitled "The Heritage and Future of Azerbaijan" has been held in Denver, Colorado (US), Report informs.
The evening was organized with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the Azerbaijani Diaspora Organization operating in the state of Colorado.
The event was attended by a representative of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, Consul Ramiz Dashdamirov, members of the local community, as well as representatives of various Turkic diasporas.
A short film reflecting the history of Azerbaijan's independence was shown during the evening.
During the official part of the event, diaspora activist Nigar Shikhsafiyeva told the guests about the rich cultural heritage and difficult history of Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of solidarity among compatriots to preserve national identity far from the Motherland.
Dashdamirov, who spoke at the event, noted that the Azerbaijani diaspora in the US is becoming more and more active every day. He stressed that such initiatives play an important role in the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the US.
Azerbaijani schoolchildren living in Colorado performed patriotic poems and national dances. Azerbaijani music was also performed in the artistic part of the event.
