An exhibition dedicated to the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) has been held in New York, where documents and photos related to the period of the first republic were presented.
According to Report, the event was held with the organizational support of the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce. The exhibits - original documents and rare photos - were provided from the personal archive of historian and researcher Dilgam Ahmad.
As part of the exhibition, Dilgam Ahmad also held a meeting with Azerbaijani students studying in the United States. He spoke about his many years of research and archival materials collected since 2014, which concern the figures of the ADR and the most important events of that period.
The exhibition showcased unique exhibits: a copy of the original passport issued to one of the 100 students sent by the ADR to study abroad, handwritten sketches of decisions made by the government of the republic during the 23 months of its existence, photos of the delegation that participated in the Paris Peace Conference, as well as historical photographs of Tiflis (now Tbilisi), where Azerbaijan's independence was proclaimed on May 28, 1918.
Speaking to the participants, Ahmad emphasized that the proclamation of the ADR was an important milestone in the history of the entire Muslim East and the Turkic world.
He also noted that in a short time, the republic managed to take significant steps to protect the territorial integrity and borders of the country. Answering the students' questions, the researcher expressed hope that in the future he will be able to create a Museum of the Republic based on his rich collection.
