The President's Cup 2025 international regatta has officially begun today in the picturesque corner of Karabakh—Sugovushan.
According to Report, the event is dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev and is jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation.
The regatta opened with a ceremonial launch, followed by 200-meter distance competitions.
More than 200 athletes from 20 countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa are participating in the regatta. Alongside Azerbaijani rowers, athletes from Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan will be competing.
The regatta will continue from May 1 to 2 at the Mingachevir Olympic Training and Sports Center "Kur." Teams will compete at various distances in kayak, canoe, and rowing events.
