Azerbaijan to preside over International Transport Forum

Azerbaijan will preside over the International Transport Forum (ITF) for the 2025–2026 period and will also chair the Summit to be held in Leipzig, Germany, in May 2026.

As part of preparations for the world’s largest gathering of transport ministers, ITF Secretary-General Young Tae Kim met with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to France, Leyla Abdullayeva, during his visit to France.

During the meeting, Young Tae Kim praised Azerbaijan’s leadership of the ITF Presidency. He particularly highlighted the two policy recommendations prepared by Azerbaijan that will be presented to the Council of Ministers of Transport at the Summit.

In turn, Leyla Abdullayeva underlined the important role of the ITF as a global platform in the field of transport policy. She noted that the Forum holds particular significance in advancing connectivity and the digitalization of supply chains.

The Ambassador also emphasized that Azerbaijan’s initiatives along the Middle Corridor play an important role in this direction and expressed the Presidency’s full support for further strengthening the ITF’s position as a global leader in transport policy dialogue.

The ITF Secretary-General also conveyed his congratulations to the people of Azerbaijan and to all nations celebrating Novruz on the occasion of the holiday.
