“Today, we reviewed cooperation opportunities across all sectors between Azerbaijan and Russia and agreed that both sides have broad potential for further cooperation,” Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev told journalists.
The Deputy PM stated that Azerbaijan and Russia discussed cooperation across various sectors, identified strong potential, and made a decision to expand ties.
“We will use these opportunities. Russian companies have been invited to cooperate and informed about Azerbaijan’s opportunities. At tomorrow’s Business Council meeting in Baku, opportunities will be presented and business circles invited to cooperate,” Mustafayev emphasized.
He added that transport and logistics constitute key areas of Azerbaijan–Russia cooperation, noting Azerbaijan’s position at the crossroads of the North–South and East–West corridors. Mustafayev highlighted the strategic importance of the Aghband bridge for cargo transit from Russia through Azerbaijan and Iran to the Persian Gulf, as well as regional connectivity, calling the Russian delegation’s interest a positive sign of strong potential.
Highlighting transit through Azerbaijan toward Armenia, the Deputy Prime Minister said that it has been enabled as a crucial step for regional cooperation, with about 26,000 tons of cargo transported since the decision.
Shahin Mustafayev expressed confidence that the Aghband bridge and border checkpoint will be fully commissioned in the near future.
