The Czech Republic intends to increase imports of natural gas from Azerbaijan in the coming years, according to the Seznam Zprávy news outlet.
According to the publication, the Czech Republic aims to purchase approximately 2 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan annually. These supplies are expected to commence starting from the 2028–2029 period.
Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček noted that although the relevant agreement has not yet been signed, negotiations are continuing successfully and the contract is at a very promising stage.
The leading Czech energy company ČEZ is interested in participating in the project and is taking part in initiatives related to these gas supplies.
According to the report, this step is part of the Czech Republic's strategy to diversify its energy sources and strengthen its energy security.
