Commemorative events on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the birth of Zarifa Aliyeva, Azerbaijani academician, Honored Scientist, ophthalmologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and full member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, were organized, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
A group of female servicemembers of the Azerbaijan Army visited the grave of Zarifa Aliyeva in the Alley of Honor, laid a wreath, and paid tribute to her bright memory.
At the memorial evening titled “A model of service to the Motherland: The role of women in the glorious history of Azerbaijan”, held at the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev, the blessed memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, the prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was honored with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.
Then, a video highlighting the life and activities of Zarifa Aliyeva was presented.
The speakers emphasized that Zarifa Aliyeva was not only a prominent ophthalmologist and academician, but also an exceptional individual known for her high moral and ethical qualities, who dedicated her life to people, science, and the Motherland. They noted that her life path vividly demonstrated the strength, compassion, and selflessness of Azerbaijani women.
It was emphasized that such events are of particular importance in terms of educating the younger generation, promoting national values, and highlighting the role of Azerbaijani women in society.
At the end of the event, a musical and artistic composition was presented by well-known singers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
