The 550th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Ashig Dirili Gurbani and the 100th anniversary of the death of Ashig Alasgar have been included in UNESCO’s 2026–2027 Jubilee Programme.

According to the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, the decision was approved at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference.

The decision is a testament to the international recognition of Azerbaijani ashig art, its centuries-old traditions, and folk creativity as an integral part of human cultural heritage.

The inclusion of both Ashiqs’ anniversaries in UNESCO's Jubilees Program implies the promotion of their heritage at the international level, as well as hosting scientific conferences, exhibitions, and cultural events within the framework of their anniversaries.
