China's ambassador visits Milli Majlis

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Ambassador of China to Azerbaijan Lu Mei.

Speaker Gafarova noted that Azerbaijan and China are actively cooperating across various sectors. In addition to strong political ties, the two countries enjoy successful collaboration in other areas. She emphasized that bilateral relations have now reached the level of a strategic partnership.

During the meeting, the significance of President Ilham Aliyev’s recent state visit to China was highlighted. The sides hailed the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China signed during the visit, describing it as another indicator of the high level of bilateral relations. Gafarova noted that during his visit, President Aliyev met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China and discussed ways to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation.

It was emphasized that relations between the parliaments form an important part of the relations between our countries. They hailed development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, including the cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups and committees.

Recalling her own meeting with Zhao Leji, Speaker Gafarova stated that such contacts serve to further expand the relations.

The meeting also noted the cooperation between Azerbaijan and China on the international stage. They highlighted that both countries consistently support each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The two sides also acknowledged the cooperation between Azerbaijan and China at the international level.

Ambassador Lu Mei expressed his commitment to making efforts to further develop relations, including between the legislative bodies, alongside other fields, during his diplomatic tenure in Azerbaijan.
