Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, in Istanbul.

The meeting focused on matters stemming from the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, as well as various aspects of the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda.

Both sides agreed that high-level reciprocal visits and regular contacts form a strong foundation for interstate relations. They highlighted the significance of the recent visit by the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Azerbaijan in May, as well as the discussions held between the leaders of the two countries during meetings in Lachin.

The ministers noted that Azerbaijan’s upcoming hosting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in July and its assumption of the ECO chairmanship in 2026 would create new opportunities for partnership within multilateral platforms.

They also underlined the positive impact of the ongoing political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Pakistan on expanding cooperation in other areas. The sides reviewed prospects for collaboration in key sectors such as economy, trade, investment, energy security, transport, and other promising fields.

The meeting further addressed recent regional developments, with both sides expressing serious concern over the security challenges arising from the Israel–Iran confrontation. The ministers emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means.

The sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
