“Who will say ‘stop’ to the repressive regime of Russia, which has been in a state of war with Ukraine for a long time? At a time when the region needs peace and stability, such actions are unacceptable,” said Sefer Karakoyunlu, Chairman of the Istanbul Türkiye-Azerbaijan Solidarity and Culture Association (ISTAD), in a statement to AZERTAC.
Commenting on the brutality inflicted on Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on June 27, the ISTAD chairman stated: “The pressures and repressive measures against Turks and Muslims living in the Russian Federation are unacceptable. The Organization of Turkic States must take initiative on this issue. The ruthless policy targeting Turks must receive a proper response.”
