“Any violence, torture, or extrajudicial punishment against innocent people is unacceptable and deserves unequivocal condemnation. Murder, as a crime against humanity, can never be justified,” said Hulusi Kılıç, former Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan and representative of the IMZA Social Development Support Public Union in Türkiye, in a commentary to AZERTAC regarding the killing of Azerbaijanis in Sverdlovsk oblast.
The diplomat expressed condolences to the families of Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov, killed by law enforcement during the Yekaterinburg raid, and to the Azerbaijani people as a whole.
Kılıç expressed hope for a transparent, objective, and comprehensive investigation into the actions of OMON. “The public must be informed of the investigation’s outcomes, the victims’ rights must be restored, an apology must be issued, and compensation for damages must be provided,” he emphasized.
The IMZA representative stressed that every individual has the right to life and to defend their rights through legal means.
He called the actions of Russian law enforcement unacceptable, adding, “We sincerely hope such crimes will not be repeated.”
