The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) media outlets widely covered the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Azerbaijan, his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as well as several events held in the city of Shusha.

The official Emirates News Agency (WAM), "Emarat Al Youm", "Sharjah24", "Alkhaleej", "Nabd Khalij" and other newspapers, as well as portals posted articles highlighting the one-on-one meeting of the heads of state, and their viewing of the bullet-riddled monuments of prominent Azerbaijani figures Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibeyli in Shusha, which had been damaged by Armenian occupiers.

The articles mentioned that during the occupation, Armenians had intended to take these statues to Armenia and melt them down. Thanks to the intervention of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the statues were retrieved from Armenia and returned to Azerbaijan. After being temporarily kept in the courtyard of the Museum of Art in Baku, the statues were restored to their original locations in Shusha following its liberation.

The UAE media outlets also published a series of articles highlighting the UAE President’s visit to the Shusha branch of the National Carpet Museum and his familiarization with the construction progress at the New Shusha Mosque. The articles emphasized that the mosque’s foundation, laid by President Ilham Aliyev in 2021, is set to become a modern architectural landmark in the historic city of Shusha. Following President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions, the mosque’s design incorporates the number 8, symbolizing Victory Day - the day Shusha was liberated from occupation. Its two minarets will resemble the number 11, representing the liberation of Shusha and Karabakh in the eleventh month of the year. Situated in the upper part of the city, the mosque’s exterior will feature geometric patterns inspired by the minarets of Shusha’s historic mosque.

The articles described the visit of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Azerbaijan as yet another step towards strengthening the relations between the two friendly countries.

The WAM news agency also released a video highlighting Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, watching a Karabakh horse show in the Jidir Plain. The agency also noted that the President of Azerbaijan presented a Karabakh horse named “Ergunesh” to the President of the United Arab Emirates.
