On March 6, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani held a phone conversation with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

During the phone conversation, the officials discussed the regional security situation, with a particular focus on the drone attacks that launched by Iran on the territory of Azerbaijan.

Minister Bayramov stressed that attacks targeting Azerbaijan are unacceptable and violate international law, as they undermine the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stated that such actions, which pose a risk to civilians and infrastructure, constitute a serious threat to regional security and stability.

Minister Antonio Tajani expressed his concern over the current situation and conveyed his solidarity, stressing the importance of restoring stability in the region.

Tajani also expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for facilitating the evacuation of Italian citizens through its territory, noting that this support was greatly appreciated.

The sides also discussed future cooperation under their strategic partnership.
