On March 12, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation.
The ministers discussed international and regional security issues, as well as ongoing developments in the Middle East.
The foreign ministers emphasized that the escalation of tensions is unacceptable, stressing the importance of resolving the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means.
The Swiss FM expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan regarding Iran’s drone attack on the country. He also thanked Azerbaijan for facilitating the evacuation of Swiss citizens from Iran.
The discussions also covered the current state and prospects of the Azerbaijan–Switzerland cooperation agenda, highlighting the importance of the upcoming political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries scheduled for this April.
