On April 1, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Abhay Kumar, the newly appointed Ambassador of India to the country.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations. It was noted that the framework of political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries would contribute to advancing cooperation and addressing existing issues.
The officials emphasized that historical ties form a solid foundation for relations, highlighting the availability of direct flights and the growing cooperation in tourism and education.
Touching upon energy cooperation, the sides described the stakes held by the Indian company ONGC Videsh Ltd in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline as key components of bilateral economic relations.
The parties also expressed concern over the ongoing developments in the Middle East. The Indian diplomat conveyed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for facilitating the evacuation of Indian nationals from Iran.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.
Ambassador Abhay Kumar thanked the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister for the reception and noted that he would spare no effort to further strengthen Azerbaijan–India relations across all areas.
