Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Upali Pannilage, Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, on the sidelines of the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok.
The ministers hailed the growing relations based on mutual respect and shared values and discussed opportunities to further expand cooperation in various areas.
The Sri Lankan minister expressed deep gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan during the recent natural disasters.
Special attention was paid to strengthening economic ties and increasing trade turnover. The potential of tourism as a driving force for broader cooperation was emphasized. In addition, scholarship opportunities for Sri Lankan citizens were highlighted during the meeting.
The sides stated that utilizing the consultation mechanism between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, as well as coordinating efforts within multilateral platforms, would provide additional impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
