Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker meets with Chief of Chinese Cyberspace Administration

Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with visiting Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China Zhuang Rongwen.

The officials welcomed the excellent development of Azerbaijan–China relations, which have been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership.

The meeting underscored the crucial role of both countries’ presidents in fostering interstate relations grounded in the principles of friendship, mutual respect, and support. The discussions praised the existing active political dialogue and enhanced collaboration in the fields of economy, trade, green energy, digital technologies, innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova briefed the Chinese official on Azerbaijan’s digital transformation policy titled “Azerbaijan’s New Digital Architecture,” initiated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

According to her, the policy covers the development of critical infrastructure, the expansion of the digital economy, and the application of innovative solutions in state governance.

The discussions revolved around the use of information technologies in parliamentary activities, cooperation in cybersecurity, and efforts to accelerate the application of AI solutions.

Zhuang Rongwen noted that China attaches great importance to equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Highlighting the latest progress made by China in information technologies, Rongwen expressed China’s readiness to advance cooperation with Azerbaijan in such areas as the internet, cybersecurity, the digital economy, and AI.

He commended the progress made by Azerbaijan in this area, as well as the fact that more than 90% of the country's population has access to the internet.
