Azerbaijan’s SOCAR, Japan’s ITOCHU expand collaboration in oil, gas and energy infrastructure

On November 25, Rovshan Najaf, President of Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR), met with Tetsuya Yamada, Chief Operating Officer of ITOCHU Corporation and Chairman of the Japan-Azerbaijan Economic Committee.

The meeting hailed the successful development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan, adding that the existing fruitful discussions contribute to fostering these ties. In this context, the parties fondly recalled the 12th Joint Meeting of the State Commission for Economic Cooperation between Japan and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tokyo, this September.

The discussions focused on the projects jointly implemented by SOCAR and ITOCHU, also reviewing opportunities for cooperation in energy sector. The meeting also addressed the application of cutting-edge technologies in oil and gas production, energy and transport infrastructure, and discussed other issues of shared concern.
