Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, met with He Shiyou, Executive Vice President of Powerchina Resources Ltd.
The talks focused on the implementation of a 160 MW solar power plant, 2 GW offshore wind energy projects, and potential new investment opportunities.
The meeting highlighted progress on the solar power project, as well as plans for its integration into the national grid as part of the second phase of Azerbaijan’s renewable energy expansion. In this context, the officials underscored the importance of ongoing grid studies conducted by China’s Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI).
He Shiyou noted that Powerchina Resources places strategic emphasis on renewable energy cooperation with Azerbaijan, expressing the company’s interest in exploring further investment opportunities.
The discussions also covered China’s policies on smart grid development, the establishment of a new energy system, accelerating digital transformation, powering data centers and artificial intelligence (AI) systems with renewable energy, and addressing global energy and industrial value chain challenges.
