“Azerbaijan has emerged as an important international hub for hosting global initiatives in recent years,” said Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev at the opening ceremony of the 6th plenary meeting of the United Nations Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (the GlobE Network) in Baku.
“Last year alone, Azerbaijan hosted the UN COP29 Climate Conference and the 29th Annual Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP). We also successfully organized several key events, including a high-level session on law enforcement’s role in combating environmental crimes. As an active member of the GlobE Network, Azerbaijan places high value on this platform,” he added.
Prosecutor General Aliyev highlighted the critical role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in creating and developing the initiative.
“The global fight against borderless corruption remains a complex but necessary challenge. It demands a joint, coordinated, and decisive response,” he said. “In Azerbaijan, we pursue this fight through a comprehensive approach.”
He went on to say that, as President Ilham Aliyev outlined, the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General’s Office play a leading and coordinating role in these efforts.
“Established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the principles of transparency and the rule of law in public administration are being further advanced under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership,” the Prosecutor General said. “The Azerbaijani government maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward corruption. The President’s political will, clear goals, and principled stance form the foundation of the progress we have made in this field,” Kamran Aliyev concluded.
