Azerbaijan, Switzerland hold another round of political consultations in Bern

A new round of political consultations took place between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Confederation in Bern.

The Azerbaijani delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, engaged in talks with the Swiss delegation was headed by Head of the Eurasia Division Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Muriel Peneveyre.

During the consultations, the two sides discussed bilateral political relations, emphasizing the importance of mutual visits and meetings on the margins of international events to maintain ongoing political dialogue. They also reviewed the current state and prospects of cooperation in the economic, energy, transport, and humanitarian fields, as well as collaboration within international organizations.

Both parties underscored the need to develop a comprehensive legal and contractual framework to expand cooperation across various fields.

Deputy Minister Rzayev highlighted Azerbaijan's contributions to climate diplomacy and the global climate agenda, including the country’s Presidency of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). He also outlined initiatives proposed within the COP29 framework and the progress made so far.

The meeting also provided detailed information on the post-conflict situation in the region, the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, the steps taken by Azerbaijan to ensure lasting peace, the problem of landmines in the liberated territories, and the ongoing large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts.

During his visit, Deputy Minister Rzayev also held a series of other meetings.
