The Senate of the Oliy Majlis (upper house of Uzbekistan’s parliament) has approved the Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
Report informs, citing the Uzbek Senate, that the treaty—originally signed in Tashkent on August 23, 2024—was ratified during the sixth plenary session of the Senate.
The document formalizes a new stage of bilateral relations aimed at strengthening the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sustainable economic development of both nations. It also outlines mutual commitments, including a pledge not to join any blocs or alliances against each other and to refrain from actions that could harm the strategic partnership or allied relations.
The ratification is expected to deepen mutual trust, bolster friendly ties, and enhance strategic cooperation. It also creates favorable conditions for expanding political dialogue, boosting trade and economic ties, fostering cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and launching new joint projects.
