Azerbaijan acts as an active and responsible player amid global instability, according to Vaqif Sadiqov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU), Report informs.
Sadiqov shared this insight at a reception held in Brussels on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day.
He noted that examples of Azerbaijan's role include the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement (2019-2024) and hosting the World Urban Forum and OIC summit in 2026. The ambassador emphasized the importance of diplomacy in the context of rapid global changes.
Among diplomatic achievements, Sadıqov cited Baku's hosting of COP29 and the agreement on a draft peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia as diplomatic achievements. The ambassador stressed the importance of direct dialogue without intermediaries.
Sadıqov also drew attention to the intensification of relations with the EU: high-level meetings, including the summit in Tirana and the completion of a round of security dialogue in Brussels.
According to him, cooperation with the EU covers energy, logistics, innovation, and ecology, and Azerbaijan is ready to be a reliable partner in the region.
