“Hosting another global event—the 13th session of the World Urban Forum—following COP29 is yet another manifestation of the confidence placed in Azerbaijan’s ability to unite efforts in the face of common challenges,” said Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, in her address at the 5th Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network held in Istanbul.
“The 13th session of the World Urban Forum will serve as an interim assessment of the implementation of the New Urban Agenda. The event will review the past decade and set priorities through 2036,” she added.
The Speaker called on all members to actively engage in the Forum’s agenda, carefully consider its outcomes in addressing the challenges of rapid urbanization, and work together to ensure that cities of the future are inclusive, sustainable, and, above all, provide decent living conditions for every citizen.
