Members of the Board of the Azerbaijani Press Council visited the Turkish Embassy in Baku.
Birol Akgün, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of the National Salvation Day on June 15 and the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press, and drew attention to the historical significance of the 2021 Shusha Declaration signed between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
The diplomat also shared information about plans to deepen media cooperation between the two countries.
Chairman of the Press Council Rashad Majid emphasized that the meeting would serve as an important platform for a useful exchange of views.
Chairman Rashad Majid also spoke about the role of National Salvation Day in the fate of the Azerbaijani people and the importance of the Shusha Declaration as a landmark document that sets a roadmap for the coming decades. He also stressed the significance of strengthening media solidarity between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
Board members expressed their views and raised questions on specific aspects of the media agenda in Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
They particularly condemned articles published in some Turkish media outlets aimed at undermining trust between the two fraternal countries, as well as the necessity of joint efforts to combat such incidents.
The meeting also focused on prospects for cooperation, ways to further strengthen the exchange of information future activities in this direction.
