Pakistani, Uzbek FMs exchange views ahead of OIC meeting

Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, held a telephone conversation with Bakhtiyor Saidov, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders discussed various bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest. They exchanged views on the agenda for the upcoming 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), scheduled to take place in Istanbul from June 21 to 22. Both ministers also agreed to meet on the sidelines of the OIC CFM.

The meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers will be held under the theme “The OIC in a Transforming World.” The Secretary-General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha, along with foreign ministers of member states, will participate in the two-day conference. The session will be chaired by Hakan Fidan, Foreign Minister of Türkiye.

Türkiye has previously hosted OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meetings in 1976, 1991, and 2004. It will assume the one-year rotating chairmanship of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers during this high-level meeting.
