Azerbaijan’s role in EU energy security discussed
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Georgia, Faig Guliyev, met with Shota Berekashvili, Chairman of the Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.
The meeting focused on the prospects for enhancing cooperation between the two countries across various fields.
During the conversation, they expressed satisfaction with the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia, which in recent years has led to a notable increase in economic cooperation.
Ambassador Guliyev informed Mr. Berekashvili about foundational economic projects between the two nations and potential future initiatives. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s crucial role in ensuring the European Union’s energy security, as well as Georgia’s growing importance as a transit country, which has further strengthened both countries’ positions as strategic actors in the South Caucasus.
Berekashvili emphasized the expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in all areas, particularly in the economic sphere, noting the increasing strategic importance of both countries in the region and beyond.
He identified energy, transport, information technology, education, construction, and tourism as priority areas for cooperation, adding that new opportunities are emerging in Georgia for Azerbaijani-owned companies across these sectors.
The sides also expressed satisfaction with the growing engagement between the legislative bodies of both countries and noted the promising contributions of upcoming joint projects. They emphasized that the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia serves not only their national interests but also the broader welfare of the South Caucasus region.
