An Azerbaijani delegation led by Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance, visited Moldova’s capital, Chisinau, on September 8–10.

At the meeting with Ion Dodon, General Director of Moldova’s National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), he provided information on the functioning of the compulsory health insurance system in his country, its development, achievements, and goals, and emphasized the importance of mutual experience exchange in this field.

Zaur Aliyev praised the successful implementation of Moldova’s compulsory health insurance system over the past 21 years. He noted that exchanging experience in health insurance would be mutually beneficial for both countries, adding: “There are wide opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Moldova in healthcare, especially in compulsory health insurance. This collaboration, along with sharing expertise, lays the foundation for future joint projects.”

The sides exchanged views on issues concerning medical services and pharmaceutical policies.

The Azerbaijani delegation also familiarized itself with the modern approaches applied in the Moldovan healthcare system.

As part of the visit, the agency's delegation met with Moldovan Health Minister Ala Nemerenco. They then visited the Timofei Moșneaga Republican Clinical Hospital, Moldova's oldest and largest medical institution, located in Chișinău and founded in 1817.

The delegation also toured Medpark International Clinic, the first and only hospital in Moldova to obtain international accreditation from JCI (Joint Commission International), representing a benchmark of quality and excellence in medical services in the country.

Moreover, the delegation viewed modern teaching models at the Center for Simulation of the Nicolae Testemiţanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The center's simulation-based internship and training programs offer students ample opportunities to gain practical skills, and it is recognized as a leading practice and training institution in the region.

As part of the visit, the delegation also met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Moldova Ulvi Bakhshaliyev, visited the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Chișinău, and laid flowers at it.
