Due to the ongoing confrontation between Israel and Iran, Azerbaijan’s Embassies in the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the Consulate General in Tabriz, are processing hotline applications from Azerbaijani citizens on a daily basis, said Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He said that the necessary measures to obtain appropriate permits for citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, wishing to leave Iran, as well as citizens of other countries, to cross the land border, are well underway. He added that the Azerbaijani citizens residing in Israel are being directed to neighbouring Egypt and Jordan, respectively.
According to the spokesperson, to date, nearly 500 applications from Azerbaijani citizens have been received in total by Azerbaijan’s Embassy and Consulate General in Iran. Of these, over 60 citizens have already crossed the border. Additionally, more than 1,200 applications from 51 countries are currently under review, and the necessary permits for border crossing are being provided.
“Necessary measures were taken to facilitate the passage of 34 Azerbaijani citizens from Israel to Jordan,” Hajizada added.
