During the 62nd meeting of the Governing Board of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) held in Baku, the report of the Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) was officially presented.

Hou Kai, Chair of ASOSAI WGEA, Auditor General of the People’s Republic of China (CNAO), highlighted that over the past year, the group had successfully implemented its tasks as outlined in the 2023–2024 Work Plan. The group facilitated knowledge sharing among member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), exchanged audit methodologies, conducted joint audits and research, organized seminars, and promoted theoretical and practical knowledge exchange.

Hou Kai emphasized the group's active participation in various events organized by the UN and other regional organizations, which allowed Asian countries to showcase their environmental audit achievements on the international stage.

He also noted that the 10th ASOSAI Seminar on Environmental Auditing, held on February 20, 2025, in Indonesia, was successfully completed with over 40 participants. The seminar focused on "Solid Waste Management Audit" and featured presentations from representatives of eight countries, including India and Saudi Arabia.

Hou Kai added that ASOSAI and INTOSAI WGEA (Working Group on Environmental Auditing of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions) share a common vision for promoting effective and responsible governance of natural resources and the environment. Future plans include training sessions, joint audit projects, research collaborations, and preparations for the 11th ASOSAI Environmental Audit Seminar and Working Meeting. Additionally, the selection phase for the 4th Green Meeting Award will be held.

He concluded by underlining the importance of collaboration with environmental audit groups in other regions, as sharing audit outcomes from Asian countries contributes to expanding global recognition.
