“Azerbaijan is a global example of inter-religious cooperation, dialogue and coexistence,” Rabbi Marc Schneier, President of the US Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, told journalists.

“For me personally as a Rabbi, there are three boxes it checks off. First, Azerbaijan, among the 57 Muslim nations, I believe is Israel's greatest friend. Second, Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev have a great reverence for the Jewish community of Azerbaijan. People believe there could be between 25,000 to 30,000 Jews in Azerbaijan, and they are treated so beautifully by President Ilham Aliyev and by the people of Azerbaijan. And finally, Azerbaijan is the example, the beacon of interreligious, intercultural dialogue and coexistence to the world,” he said.

Noting that Israel has no greater friend, no greater ally in the Muslim world than Azerbaijan, Rabbi Marc Schneier added: “President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan are genuinely committed in solidarity and support to the Jewish state. And the State of Israel and the Jewish people throughout the world are so grateful to President Ilham Aliyev and to the Republic of Azerbaijan for its continued support and solidarity with Israel and with the Jewish people.”
