Protection of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan highlighted at Ankara seminar

Sabina Aliyeva, Azerbaijan’s Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), participated in a seminar entitled “The Human Rights and Equality Law” held in Ankara at the invitation of Muharrem Kılıç, Chairman of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye.

In her address, Sabina Aliyeva highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts to protect human rights and freedoms, promote equality, and combat discrimination. She also emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan’s fruitful cooperation with the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye, noting that this collaboration plays a vital role in advancing the shared mission of both institutions in the field of human rights protection.

The Ombudsperson underlined the importance of engaging young people in building a fairer, more equal, and inclusive society and praised the seminar’s contribution to this cause.

The seminar continued with presentations on key concepts of human rights, the principle of equality, combating discrimination, the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment, and national and international best practices in these areas.

Participants were awarded certificates at the conclusion of the event, and Sabina Aliyeva wished the young participants success in their future endeavors.
